Abstract

As members of the university demos, it is not only a right but a duty to "... contribute to the study of problems of general interest and tend to their public understanding; defend moral values and the principles of justice, freedom, social welfare, the rights of the human person and the democratic-republican form of government ", as stated in article 2 of the University Organic Law (1). Also, from the conception of medical professionalism (2), one of the most important professional roles, of doctors and members of the health team, is that of truthful social communication based on scientific knowledge (3). In particular, gynecologists have a great responsibility in regard to the issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights, which is not transferable because it is the specialty that should be devoted to women's health care (4).
